Technical Specialist - Mining

  • Full-time

Company Description

CGG (www.cgg.com) is a global geoscience technology leader. Employing around 4,000 people worldwide, CGG provides a comprehensive range of data, products, services and equipment that supports the discovery and responsible management of the Earth’s natural resources.

Job Description

Working across numerous teams within CGG’s Geoscience EAME division, the successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing CGG’s activity in the Minerals & Mining sector, helping to identify applications for our data and technology solutions that are currently used in mineral exploration and mine-site monitoring, at locations across the world.

You will have deep familiarity with the mining sector and the geological, geotechnical and geospatial needs and challenges throughout its lifecycle, however there will be a strong emphasis on supporting activities relating to geotechnical challenges at mine sites to help support clients with improved decision-making and safety. This foundation of knowledge will be complemented by significant hands-on experience involving the application and development of data, technology and software solutions, extending to the areas of CGG’s technical expertise listed below, and beyond.

You will be naturally curious and driven by a desire to challenge the status quo, and support rapid growth of CGG’s business, through innovation, problem solving, troubleshooting and seeking new solutions to addressing some of the industry’s biggest, most difficult and pertinent challenges.

The appointed individual will work closely with our technical experts in geophysics (seismic and non-seismic multi-physics imaging), satellite remote sensing and InSAR, geology and mineral systems, mineralogy and geochemistry, as well as digital, geothermal and environmental science. You will also work alongside mining subject matter experts, business development professionals, interns and researchers. As a result, you will have unenviable access to diverse expertise, data and technology, and thereby have the opportunity to help steer future developments that rapidly drive forward CGG’s position as an already established leader in the industry.

An exciting aspect of the position will be looking ‘beyond traditional’ applications and CGG’s ability to pivot offerings to address new opportunities in the sector.

The role will require interacting with internal stakeholders, as well as an international client-base and network of collaborators. Part of the role will involve commercial and research project management and this should be a demonstrable area of strength. You will also be expected to stay on top of market intelligence and emerging commercial and technical/research trends, helping CGG to anticipate future client requirements and long-term industry ambitions.

You will have excellent presentation and written skills and be able to communicate technical solutions clearly to different audiences.

Some travel will be required to support client meetings, conferences and interactions with our global team, and there may be a need to support field campaigns across the world.
