Job Description

The Equipment Division (Sercel) is recruiting an Buyer II.  This position is responsible for performing buying assignments for production and non-production material, per established MRP requirements or approved requisitions as directed by the Supply Chain Manager. 

This position will obtain materials and services at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, delivery, and reliability of source; responsible for significant dollar volume commitments. 

  • Expedites delivery where necessary; obtains engineering approval for alternate methods or materials if delivery is not available when required. 
  • Advises other departments of any changes in price or procedure and of restrictions or materials, which would prohibit purchase. 
  • Negotiates vendor rejections and advises vendor of reasons for rejections and cost incurred as a result of defective material. 
  • Conducts business internally and externally with the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Cooperates with other departments to ensure smooth flow of materials and services and verification of compliance with all contractual conditions prior to invoice payment.
  • Maintains well document Purchase Orders and related purchasing records. 
  • Uses good judgment in consulting with superior on all matters regarding uncertainty for the proper application of the company policy or department procedures, regardless of dollar value.

Qualifications

  • Capability to handle multiple assignments and projects concurrently.
  • Computerized Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Detailed specific commodity or service knowledge may be required.
  • Must be advanced with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • High degree of problem solving ability.
  • Effective communication verbally and in writing.
  • Analytical skills quantitatively and subjectively.

TYPICAL EDUCATION:   Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent          

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:   5+ years of experience in procurement support for electronic, cable, machined equipment or seismic exploration operations. Contract and Service Agreement negotiation a plus. SAP experience preferred.
