Job Description

Working within the Robertson Data Hub - Cloud Development, Delivery and Support team, and reporting to the Support and Delivery Manager, the Solution Architect will be responsible for the day-to-day management, continuous improvement and architecture of our cloud delivered, data solutions infrastructure.

CGG utilise cloud platforms for the provision of client driven data delivery and management services, and as an enabler of other technologies provided on those platforms (e.g. ML). These environments need to be created, tested, deployed and maintained to meet CGG and client business needs.

Working closely with our other architects, software developers, support and test team, corporate networking, and our clients, the individual will drive our cloud platform forward by developing the long term strategy, as well as ensuring strong operational performance, scalability, integration and as part of the wider team.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for owning the cloud architecture for GeoVerse multiclient and proprietary solutions
  • Drive forward the adoption of cloud infrastructure at various scales within the organisation
  • Takes significant accountability for security of the solutions, working with experts within CGG (inc. InfoSec) or outside as appropriate
  • Work closely with data architects, software developers and the wider team to support and continuously enhance our product offering, particularly through enablement of the benefits of cloud-based infrastructure and services
  • Provide technical pre-sales support, work on tenders/bids and other documentation, and work closely with clients’ during implementation phases
  • Provide strong operational performance: incident management, configuration (particularly network/firewall), process automation, health and performance monitoring, resilience for our cloud deployed infrastructure
  • Responsibility for cloud services, networking & security, sysadmin for client VMs running Windows & Linux
  • Automate deployment of applications and services to servers on both internal (development/staging) and external cloud systems
  • Build & maintain technical documentation on configuration and processes
  • Provide second and third line support in conjunction with the Robertson User Support team

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of working as a solutions architect in a cloud computing  environment and/or significant devops/sysadmin/cloud engineer/infrastructure engineer experience within cloud environments (preferably Azure) in the context of solution architecture
  • Broad understanding of the computing landscape, with an interest in current and emerging technologies and how they can be applied to solve Geoscience problems
  • Excellent working knowledge of networking and security, e.g. SSL, authentication best practise
  • Experience of deploying and configuring virtualised environments (Linux and Windows) and container solutions, e.g. docker, containerd and Kubernetes
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools, git version control, CI/CD pipelines and use of infrastructure provisioning and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef or Puppet
  • Relevant certifications in cloud architecture, cloud management, networking, security etc. highly desirable
  • Relevant certifications in general IT project, change management or ISO 27001 desirable
  • Degree equivalent or higher in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Geoscience data experience desirable
