Job Description

1.      PRIMARY PURPOSE AND OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:

 

The Pilot is responsible to fly the company aircraft in accordance with project, safety and procedural requirements whilst taking an active role in promoting the safe and economical functioning of projects. He/she is also a reference point for more junior members of the Flight Operations Team.

2.      CONTEXT OF THE JOB

         ENVIRONMENT AND MAJOR CHALLENGES:

  • The Pilot works under pressure in a highly flexible environment.
  • Mental and/or physical stress induced by working away from home for long periods of time could impair alertness and degrade performance.
  • Fatigue induced by poor rest conditions, heat and long hours in the cockpit
  • Pilots have to be declared medically fit to fly by a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner

3.      TYPICAL DIMENSIONS OF THE JOB

All airborne surveys are completely dependent on the services of trained and rated pilots.

 

4.         MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Takes all reasonable steps to maintain familiarity with all relevant aviation regulations, notices, circulars, procedures and the contents of the Flight Operations Manual
  • Is responsible for the safe operation of the aeroplane, safety of its occupants and property carried during flight time
  • Has authority to give all commands he/she deems necessary for the purpose of securing the safety of the aero plane and of persons or property carried therein and all persons carried in the aircraft shall obey such commands
  • Ensures that all standard operating procedures and checklists are complied with in accordance with the Flight Operations Manual and Aviation Authority Regulations
  • Contributes to Project Safety Plans and Risk Assessments
  • Contributes to ensuring airworthiness of the aircraft prior to each flight
  • Undertakes all aspects of aircraft operation during the flight and on the ground  
  • Ensures that all documents and manuals as specified in this Flight Operations Manual are carried and that it shall remain valid throughout the flight or series of flights
  • In an emergency situation that requires immediate decision and action, take any action he considers necessary under the circumstances.  In such cases he may deviate from rules, operational procedures and methods in the interest of safety
  • Maintains a high standard of discipline, conduct and appearance as a representative of NEOS Airborne Survey (Pty) Ltd
  • Provision of all required records of flight training for the purpose of upload to the Air operations management system
  • Daily provision of flight and duty information for the purpose of upload to the Air operations management system

5.    HSE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and accept that the responsibility for HSE resides with every individual
  • Promote a positive HSE culture and set a personal example on all HSE matters
  • Read, understand, and ensure that you work safely in accordance with company HSE policies, processes, procedures and rules
  • Understand and actively participate in the company’s HSE management system
  • Report any incidents, near misses or hazards

Qualifications

C208 PT6 Experience

Meets company Fixed-wing Standard minimum

Australian Commercial Pilot’s Licence

Current Class 1 Medical
