Job Description

As the Technical Head of Geological Analysis you will be responsible for leading and developing technical excellence aspects for a team of geoscientists specialising in clastic & carbonate sedimentology, stratigraphy and geochemistry working on a variety of projects. You will work with the GA Management Head to develop the team to deliver industry leading integrated solutions to Client challenges efficiently.

Technical Leadership

The Technical Head will be responsible for the technical excellence and leadership within the Geological Analysis team, across CGG Geology and Geoscience. This includes responsibility for:

  • Leading and developing technical expertise to develop a high performing team using development strategies that ensure the motivation, engagement and innovation of all staff.
  • Setting, maintaining and continuously improving Standards and Best Practise workflows.
  • The technical assurance of all work undertaken by the team, including proposals and client engagement.
  • Ensuring all technical work has been performed to an excellent standard, which exceeds Client expectations and is compliant with the internal peer review process and Client objectives.
  • Providing support and influence as needed across the CGG Geology business and CGG Geoscience.
  • Leading the innovation of new workflows and technologies that provide differentiation for CGG.
  • Giving guidance and actively exploring where the groups strengths lie in relation to the Energy Transition.

Excellent interpersonal skills

As an experienced reservoir geologist, the successful candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills. They must be able to gain the confidence of the department and project teams and adopt a supportive, progressive approach in order to mentor and develop knowledge. They must lead with their clear vision for CGG, in-line with CGG Geology strategy and be able to motivate others regarding this.

Strong BD & marketing skills

The candidate should be developing business opportunities globally, identifying where CGG could provide complementary support to client’s goals in a collaborative way. They should have extensive technical knowledge and business development skills to network and identify the right market and clients for this business/initiative. They must also be willing to visit customers to build relationships, gain insights and support project meetings. The successful candidate will need to work closely with Sales & Marketing to tailor scopes of work in a strategic way during the preparation of tenders.

Innovation

The candidate must actively lead, encourage and promote the adoption and development of new technologies and workflows within their teams. They must encourage teams to develop new ideas and concepts that could bring value to our clients and the business. The candidate must not be afraid of actively encouraging and developing ideas outside of conventional geology in order to be at the forefront of the discipline globally.

Qualifications

  • Discipline expertise in reservoir geology.
  • Experience working integrated projects across the E&P lifecycle ideally with a focus on reservoir characterisation.
  • Highly technical with excellent project and team management skills.
  • 25+ years, ideally with time spent at an E&P Operating company in a technical leadership role.
  • Motivated and driven individual with good time management, organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven mentoring experience.
  • Strong team player.
