Job Description

Located in Jandakot, we are seeking a permanent, full time, qualified and motivated Airborne Geophysical Field Technician.  This technician role will be field based, requiring the technician to ensure the continued operation and serviceability of the geophysical equipment on board survey aircraft.  It will also be the responsibility of the Technician to manage base stations and data upload, and on certain projects, the Technician will perform Crew Leading duties.  The successful candidate must have a good understanding of electromechanical systems and geophysical instrumentation.  Must be self-motivated and able to work without supervision.

Geophysical Duties:

Ensure the continued operation and serviceability of the airborne Geophysical equipment whilst in field, as per standard operating procedures

  • First-line data QC on data collected whilst flying
  • Ensure the calibration of Geophysical equipment before the commencement of a project in accordance with the project specifications
  • Fault finding and repairs to Geophysical equipment that may be required with the assistance from the office
  • In-field data management, upload or providing the data to the date processing department
  • Provide training to new Geophysical Field Technician when needed
  • Assist with repairs and logistics at the office when not on field duty or on time off in Lieu
  • Daily reporting to the office on Geophysical equipment status
  • Manage installed Geophysical equipment and spares for continued serviceability, security. The Geophysical Field Technician remains responsible and accountable for Geophysical equipment in the field.
  • Stock take of equipment when requested.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Cert IV/Diploma in Electronics or at lease 2-3 years relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Geophysical Instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated strong level of technical understanding in Electronics and/or Instrumentation.
  • Proven IT sills, beyond general office skills.
  • A willingness to work away from home for extended periods of a minimum of 6 weeks at a time, in varied and often remote locations.
  • Demonstrated general level of mechanical understanding.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a small team environment of varied professions; and
  • A demonstrated commitment to achieving high level of productivity in a safe manner

Additional Information

Salary - Salary range will be from $65,000 to $75,000k per annum, based on internal compensation benchmarking.
