Job Description

The Reservoir Geophysicist will be responsible for running of seismic reservoir characterization or integrated study projects tasks, with a main focus on advanced seismic based QI workflows. Strives to ensure that production deadlines, project objectives, technical specifications, QC requirements are met. Based on his/her experience, will be in charge of entire project’s steps with limited supervision. Will share his technical knowledge with peers and participate to Reservoir America’s proprietary business development in Brazil.

 

Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Technical execution of the project, preparing advanced QI workflow in line with project scope of work. Runs and presents tests as required for the optimisation and validation of the workflow. Develops and optimises the workflow along with the Supervisor/Team Leader. Ensures that quality control procedures are applied and that product quality is optimal. Communicates the resource requirements to ensure the project progresses according to schedule.

 

  • Project management, being responsible for keeping projects on schedule and fulfilling project management commitments. With input from the client and Supervisor/Team Leader, organizes and plans the various validation, production and QC phases of the project as per the contract and following quality procedures. Identifies and makes timely requests for any additional resources to ensure the continued progress of the project. Draws up and manages project monitoring documents.

 

  • Communications with client, compiling and communicating status reports and other information relating to the progress of the project. Organizes the preparation and execution of technical client meetings and is able to deliver technical presentation to guide decisions during the project. Informs the Project Manager/Team Leader of any problems / conflicts encountered which are preventing the progress of the project. Supplies the Project Manager/Team Leader with the necessary information regarding project performance.

     

  • Commercial initiative, identifying opportunities to promote the use of optional processes in order to provide the best technical results possible as well as increasing project revenues.

 

  • Innovation develops knowledge and skills by reading the documentation, attending training and discussions with colleagues (and clients). Proactively communicates new techniques and solutions to colleagues.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

The successful candidate will be educated with an Earth Sciences degree as a minimum plus an MSc or PhD in a relevant geoscience discipline. This role requires at least 2-3 years Operator or Consultancy experience with a strong technical background in geophysics. The role will require the use of CGG’s innovative proprietary software, particularly Hampson-Russell and Jason Workbench, prior experience with these tools is essential.

CGG is a multinational company and experience working with multinational teams is preferable.
