Job Description

Founded in 1961, CGG Robertson is renowned for delivering global datasets, knowledge and experience in upstream oil and gas consultancy. Their services range from Non-Exclusive studies to Multi-disciplinary services, are active in all processes relating to the search for, and exploitation of hydrocarbons.

Working with a regional team and reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful candidate will undertake core description and petrographic analysis and provide geological interpretations, research and training on behalf of oil and gas companies within the area of sedimentology related to oil and gas exploration.

The candidate must be able to contribute to projects using a range of techniques and processes relating to the areas of clastic sedimentology but also have an understanding of all Petroleum Geoscience disciplines to enable independent and accurate generation and interpretation of data and preparation of professional reports.

The incumbent will undertake core description, facies analysis and depositional modelling, as well as conduct petrographic analysis utilising light microscopy, automated mineralogy (Qemscan) techniques, SEM and XRD in the assessment of detrital and authigenic mineralogy, phases of diagenesis and controls on reservoir quality.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be educated to BSc level in Geology, Geophysics or Geoscience and ideally have a Masters (or above) in a Geoscience subject. Experience of writing technical reports is essential.

You will have excellent Microsoft office skills and experience in an oil consultancy would be desirable.

Other advantageous skills include:

  • Petrophysics

  • Wellcad, IC and other industry software

  • ARC GIS

There may be a requirement to undertake on location work such as within a core store.  This role will require international travel and often direct interaction with clients.  Provision of support with departmental promotion and formulation of departmental strategy
