This opportunity for Engineer | Junior DevOps (m/f/d) will be integrated into the Space Unit to support the development of new Earth Observation software applications for the global market.

Job Description

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Digital team within our Space unit. Your expertise will be crucial in managing and optimizing our backend infrastructure, ensuring the deployment and operation of our applications and services.

This is an opportunity to join one of the most ambitious software product development teams working in Earth Observation in Portugal. Our mission is to develop scalable software applications for the space downstream market with a focus on sustainability. From monitoring critical infrastructures to assessing carbon stocks and sequestration potential the opportunities are endless.

Our platforms are expanding rapidly, and we need your skills to scale effectively and meet the demands of global markets. To achieve this, you should have a solid interest and some track record in DevOps, particularly with infrastructure as a code. You will be responsible for implementing container orchestration, securing our infrastructure, and integrating continuous deployment processes.

You will join a motivated team dedicated to making a positive impact in our society. We are looking for an ambitious young engineer that is willing to learn and evolve as the team grows. You should have had some experience in or contact with most of the technologies mentioned below but most of all demonstrated a natural ability to learn and overcome new challenges with a high degree of accountability.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage application containerization using Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Monitor and manage cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Implement and manage monitoring and logging solutions to ensure the health and performance of applications and infrastructure.
  • Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines with CI/CD tools.
  • Manage infrastructure on cloud providers such as Azure.
  • Ensure security best practices are followed in the deployment and management of applications and infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Academic background in Computer Sciences or equivalent field of studies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes' container orchestration.
  • Experience with Microsoft development tools and programming languages.
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD.
  • Knowledge in infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
  • Knowledge in Grafana products for observability.
  • Capacity to work with highly available platforms and products, and working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and troubleshooting capacity.
