This opportunity is for an Remote Sensing Data Engineer (m/f/d) to be integrated in the geoSystem team, to develop and productise algorithms and tools for geospatial data management.

The successful candidate will integrate CEiiA geoSystems team, working in the following activities:

  1. Contribute to the development and testing of software for satellite systems;
  2. Assess and understand algorithms for processing satellite data, including characterization of geometric and radiometric errors;
  3. Contribute to the implementation of software for processing optical satellite data;
  4. Assess and implement satellite instruments calibration methods;
  5. Support verification and validation campaigns for multi-satellite Ground Segment software.

More generally, the selected candidate will face the following challenges:

  • Explore technologies and algorithms for geospatial data handling;
  • Learn and implement techniques for collating and cleaning of data from various entities and providers;
  • Integrate CEiiA geoSystems team to contribute for the successful completion of product development milestones;
  • Benchmark the analytics performance of data processing algorithms;
  • Evaluate and employ statistical and modelling procedures for cross-validating data processing models;
  • Contribute to the production of technical papers

Habilitações

  • Master degree in Geospatial, Physics, Aerospace or Environmental Engineering, Mathematics or related areas;
  • Proficiency in Python and corresponding AI/ML libraries;
  • Knowledge in unsupervised, supervised, semi-supervised and transfer-learning techniques;
  • Excellent analytic capabilities;
  • Understanding of algorithms for geospatial data;
  • Be able to develop solid numerical tools for handling geospatial data; 
  • Although no previous work experience is required, knowledge of geospatial data and programming languages is expected;
  • Strong capabilities for learning and applying new technologies in innovative and creative ways;
  • The ideal candidate should be highly motivated to work in a dynamic team environment, alongside data scientists and engineers;
  • Capacity to foster a healthy, stimulating work environment that frequently harnesses teamwork;
  • Proficiency in english;
  • Solid communication skills.
