Job Description
You will support clear, engaging and coherent communication in a technical and international environment. As a Junior Communication Officer, you will contribute to the creation and dissemination of digital, visual and written content to support information sharing, alignment and community engagement. You will work closely with central communication services and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely, consistent and well-coordinated communication across multiple channels, gaining hands-on experience in institutional communication within a multidisciplinary and mission-driven organisation.
Your responsibilities
- Maintain and update SCE Department websites, internal pages, and digital content.
- Draft, edit and publish departmental news, announcements, and updates across channels.
- Manage CERN Campus Apps notifications and ensure clear, accurate and timely information.
- Prepare and produce departmental newsletters by coordinating editorial inputs, ensuring consistency in tone and proofreading content before publication.
- Contribute to activity reports.
- Design and adapt visual communication materials (posters, leaflets, simple infographics) for digital and print use.
- Ensure all communication materials comply with CERN communication and visual identity standards.
- Manage and animate internal communication channels, supporting engagement and information flow.
- Facilitate effective two-way communication with internal audiences.

Your profile
- Some experience in communication, digital content management, editorial work or visual design is an asset.
- Experience in an international, technical or scientific environment is an advantage, but motivation and willingness to learn are essential.
Skills
- Good command of standard office software.
- Familiarity with content management systems (WordPress) and digital publishing tools.
- Basic graphic design skills and ease with visual creation tools (e.g. Adobe suite or equivalent).
- Interest in digital communication platforms and community management tools.
- Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Communication, Journalism, Digital Media (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
