- Full-time
Job Description
Your responsibilities
The BioDynaMo system is is an open-source, agent-based simulation software originally designed to simulate the behaviour of billions of cells by CERN and other members of the BioDynaMo collaboration. CERN is currently working on extending the simulation engine as part of a large-scale Digital Twin system able to simulate complex dynamic systems. This job opening is for an experienced C++ Software Developer to lead the future development of the system at CERN and the integration in the Digital Twin architecture in collaboration with the BioDynaMo medical researchers and software engineering team. The position is expected to be filled in April 2024 for 2 years.
As a successful candidate you will work on extending the agent-based system with new classes of objects and behaviours supporting two major use cases of cancer immunotherapy and infective diseases transmission modelling. You will also work on streamlining and optimising the software architecture for scalability and deployment on distributed Cloud and HPC infrastructures and improve the usability of the application.
A qualification in the field of Computer Science or a closely related field is required.

About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
