This position is located in the Sources, Targets and Interactions Group where you would join the team which is responsible for all beam-intercepting devices in the CERN accelerator complex.
The project you will work on covers simulations as well as prototyping and testing activities related to beam intercepting devices, aiming at developing and optimising mechanical, leak-tight connections (flanges, gaskets) as well as cooling. Part of the tasks include material characterisation studies and manufacturing techniques carried out in collaboration with external partners.

In this position, you will:

- work on the analysis and design of different beam intercepting devices for FCCee as well as the different absorbers and dump;

About us

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
