Job Description

Your responsibilities

 

The Controls Electronics and Mechatronics group is in charge of a large palette of devices, going from LHC Collimators and other Beam-Intercepting Devices (BIDs), facilities such as CERN High Energy Accelerator Mixed field facility (CHARM) and robots such as the LHC Train Inspection Monorail (TIM).

In this position, you will work on the novel high-precision motion control project named SAMBUCA (Sensors Acquisition & Motion Control framework). In particular, you will:
- be involved in the SAMBUCA motion controls algorithms and low-level control developments; 
- design, develop and validate advanced motion control algorithms for BIDs installed in harsh environment and controlled using power and signal cables up to 1km of length;
- design and realise of functional tests of SAMBUCA motion control hardware, as well as the definition of the software interface for the user control.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

  • Sound knowledge in C and C++;
  • Knowledge of precise motion control; 
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Deployment in an Agile teams. 
  • Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • You have a professional background in informatique (or a related field) and have either:
    • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
    • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a fellow or graduate contract before.
