Electrical Technical Engineer (SY-RF-AC-2023-74-LD)

  • Contract

Company Description

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

Job Description

Introduction

Are you an enthusiastic electrical technical engineer looking to acquire experience whilst working on RF power systems? Take Part!

You will join the Accelerator Systems Department (SY), which is responsible for the beam-related technical systems of the CERN accelerators. The SY teams design, build and operate equipment systems in all CERN accelerators, and are engaged in ambitious forward-looking R&D programmes.

The team is responsible for the design, operation and maintenance of large RF power plants and related infrastructure, and we are also designing the amplifiers of the future!

Functions

As an Electrical technical Engineer in the Amplifiers and Couplers section, you will be part of a team working on RF power systems.

More specifically, you will:

  • Carry out the technical design phase (making the necessary calculations, choosing components) and make the necessary schematics or supervise the detailed design studies;
  • Commission large electrical units or systems;
  • Develop test procedures and define plans (acceptance tests, QA, QC, acceptance criteria);
  • Plan, organise and coordinate the operation, maintenance, repair, testing, modification and consolidation of major systems, equipment and complex technical installations;
  • Contribute to fault-finding;
  • Define technical schedules and implement them in cooperation with multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Ensure all necessary safety measures are taken on the work sites;
  • Contribute to procurement and contracts by drafting technical specifications and taking part in contract negotiations;
  • Supervise junior technicians.
