The Safety Training team in the Health & Safety department is responsible for the conception, design and coherence of training and awareness courses of Health and Safety matters for the whole CERN population. The team meets with experts at CERN and then translates their training requirements into a diverse range of learning formats e.g. e-learning, classroom trainings, posters, booklets, videos, etc. 

You must have an interest in Science, and especially in CERN activities, as you are going to be in contact with different specialists from a wide range of fields: environment, electricity, mechanics, health and safety in general, etc. in order to plan, visualise and create the trainings. You will be working in close collaboration with a Training Specialist, who will provide support as and when required.

Skills required for the job:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Creative thinking is an essential part of the job;
• Strong IT skills, including experience working with IT design tools e.g. Storyline, and proficiency with MS PowerPoint;
• Good notions of learning theories and instructional design methods, e.g. storytelling,quizzes, serious games, etc.
• Familiarity with LMS and  SCORM ;
• Being able to organise and prioritise tasks, maintain documentation and folders up to date and strong attention to details;
• Being able to collect and synthesize information provided by multiple sources.

After a practical learning period, you will:

• Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and topic owners to help them identify needs and objectives;
• Design, develop and revise the training content, to make it appropriate to the learning needs and learners;
• Develop ideas to best convey the safety messages (evaluate which learning method is most suitable to the needs);
• Produce, test and maintain online courses and exams, in consultation with experts, topic owners and trainers.
• Implement produced courses in CERN's Learning Management Sytem (LMS);
• Create additional communication media in collaboration with CERN's design service to support learning (handouts, posters, animations, apps);
• Ensure the quality of the communication media produced by:
  • collecting feedback from the experts, topic owners, trainers, testers and learners
  • archiving and versioning of the media to guaranty traceability
  • respecting existing procedures

• An employment contract of one year, renewable for a second year; 
• On-the-job and formal training at CERN, as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French;
• A monthly stipend of 4565 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax);

• Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva;
