Introduction

Are you a proactive and skilled Trade Support Officer, experienced in monitoring and reporting financial transactions and trade operations? Seize this opportunity and join CERN’s Pension Fund Middle Office. CERN, take part!

You will join:

  • The CERN Pension Fund which provides pension and social security benefits to over 7,000 members from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and the European Southern Observatory (ESO). Operating as a funded defined benefit scheme, the CERN Pension Fund's assets currently amount to approximately CHF 4.25 billion.

  • The Accounting, Treasury & Transaction Support (ATT) Section, responsible for ensuring the accounting operations, treasury/cash management and monitoring of investment transactions.

Functions

As a member of the team in the ATT Section, you will be responsible for:

  • Booking and monitoring the transactions (equities, bonds, derivatives) in the custodian's system and liaison with the internal portfolio manager, brokers and custodian as required.
  • Monitoring and resolving financial discrepancies.
  • Monitoring of all operational custodian activities on a regular basis.
  • Executing and monitoring of inter-bank and internal cash transfers.
  • Executing and monitoring of corporate events for Private Equity/Debt investments.
  • Monitoring foreign exchange contracts and optimising cash management.
  • Managing legal and tax documentation related to investments.
  • Maintaining and updating the Internal Control System including streamlining financial and administrative procedures.
  • Interacting with bank counterparties, including monitoring short-term investments and monitoring of the cash forecasting.
  • Providing analysis for reporting such as the financial statements.
  • Participating in operational projects.
  • Following-up on changes in financial market regulation with a view to mitigating risks.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of finance or a related field.

Experience:

  • Monitoring and reporting financial transactions.
  • Financial market operations.
  • Experience with financial institutions, e.g. pension funds, banks, asset management.
  • Experience of process change would be a strong advantage.
  • Experience in working in an international environment.

Technical competencies:

  • Knowledge of financial markets and related instruments: familiarity with current financial regulations.
  • Cash management.
  • Working knowledge of SWIFT communication would be a strong advantage.
  • Working knowledge of a trade order management system would be an advantage.

Behavioural competencies:

  • Working in teams: building and maintaining constructive and effective work relationships.

Language skills:

  • English: spoken and written with the ability to draw up documents as well as communicate effectively with counterparties to solve issues and to set up new professional relationships.
  • French: ability to understand and speak in professional contexts.

Employment Conditions
