Job Description

CEDA is looking to hire a Journeyman, Millwright for a project at our Fort McMurray, AB location.  CEDA will be working with our client to reassemble their entire dredge, as well as assemble a marina and an electrical barge on site.

The Journeyman Millwright maintains, repairs, and installs mechanical equipment within the dredging and fluid management fleet to ensure safe and reliable operations. This role performs precision alignments, equipment overhauls, and fabrication while adhering to Transport Canada and safety standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist dredge construction and assembly activities
  • Perform critical laser flange alignments on equipment
  • Repair, fabricate, or replace defective machinery components; perform follow-up testing and calibration
  • Rig, lift, and move machinery and components using cranes, hoists, and slings
  • Perform assembly work, including installation, alignment, fitting, and dismantling of industrial equipment
  • Work safely and effectively around heavy lifts and suspended loads
  • Assist with equipment startup and shutdown in accordance with safety procedures and governing standards
  • Interpret schematics and read service manuals to determine work procedures
  • Ensure all health, safety, and environmental practices and documentation are completed for daily activities

Role Specifications

  • Class 5 driver’s license is required
  • Journeyman Millwright; Red Seal certification preferred.
  • Experience working with dredging equipment, including dredges, pontoons, ladder winches, or cutter heads
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including climbing multiple flights of stairs and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
