Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for an experienced artist to join our Assets Team working on Project Polaris — the first game in a new Witcher series saga. As an Asset & Outsource Senior Artist you will be responsible for ensuring delivery of the highest quality decoration and architecture assets from our outsourcing partners.

(This role allows on-site /hybrid work mode or 100% remotely from any location within 3 hours of the UTC +2 time zone).

Daily responsibilities:

  • Receiving assets from external partners and reviewing them to ensure expected artistic and technical quality.
  • Providing artistic and technical feedback to external partners via documentation and direct communication.
  • Integrating approved assets into the game engine.
  • Modelling assets which fit the established style of the game.
  • Creating original photorealistic textures through the use of various tools and middleware.
  • Setting up materials and shaders to achieve the best possible quality.
  • Cooperating effectively with other artists and designers and ensuring good practices within internal and external teams.
  • Providing the team with clear and transparent progress status regarding the ongoing workflow.
  • Maintaining the production pipeline and meeting deadlines.
  • Participating in planning and dependencies sessions, managing tasks and estimating scope

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience working in the video game industry and at least one shipped AAA title.
  • At least 3 years experience collaborating with external vendors. 
  • Proficiency in using Blender or one of the leading 3d content creation tools (3DS Max, Maya, etc.).
  • Very good knowledge of Substance Painter and Photoshop.
  • Very Good knowledge of composition, colour theory and lighting.
  • Very good knowledge of physically based rendering (PBR).
  • Creative and with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Fluent English.

  • Experience with procedural content creation packages (Substance, Houdini, World Machine).
  • Knowledge in Epics Unreal Engine 5 and Nanite pipeline

    Artists should include a portfolio in their application.

Working mode

For this role you can choose between a remote-first or office-first working mode.

  • Office-First: working primarily from the Warsaw, Wroclaw, or Cracow office for a minimum of 10 days per month.
  • Remote-First: working from home, or from any location that is within 3 hours away of the UTC +2 time zone.
