CASES keeps people out of jail and prison by engaging them in effective services that supports them to achieve success in the community. The Education, Career & Enrichment (ECE) department specializes in serving youth and young adults involved in the criminal legal system.

The Assertive Community Engagement & Success (ACES) program seeks an Administrative Assistant to support the Director of ACES. ACES is an innovative East Harlem and South Bronx neighborhood-based program for young people who need support to overcome threatening environments and system-involvement to find a path to education achievement, vocational training and employment. These young people will be engaged in behaviors that put them at a high-risk of further criminal legal systems involvement.

ACES seeks an Administrative Assistant who is committed to advancing the mission of ACES. The Administrative Assistant will support the Director and the team in a variety of ways.

All applicants will need to be available 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

Reports to:       Director of ACES/Sr. Director of ECE

Job Description

  • Provide administrative support to program leadership, including taking and distributing meeting minutes;
  • Develop proficiency with internal databases;
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, special events;
  • Provide front desk coverage welcoming staff, clients, and visitors when necessary;
  • Member of the Safety team and coordinate safety trainings for staff;
  • Maintain and update program materials, forms and office supplies;
  • Process check requests and expense reports;
  • Participate in external and internal trainings to support professional development;
  • Perform other duties as required by Director and Senior Director

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or high school diploma with 4 years related work experience;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment;
  • Must maintain confidentiality and have the ability to exercise a high level of judgment/discretion; 
  • Ability to create and maintain well-organized administrative and operational systems;
  • Knowledge and proficiency of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and possess a willingness to learn new programs as needed; 
  • Interest in working with youth and young adults involved in the criminal legal system;
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
  • A belief and interest in working collaboratively with community stakeholders

 

Additional Information

Salary: Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.Full-time 35-hour week with excellent benefits
