CASES keeps people out of jail and prison by engaging them in effective services that help them achieve success in the community. We specialize in serving youth and young adults and people with behavioral health needs. CASES is a leading New York City provider of alternatives to incarceration, a key solution for a fairer criminal justice system. This is an important time at CASES. CASES has an exciting opening for a Director to lead our Learning and Development efforts.  This is a newly created role and the right candidate will set the strategic direction and align it with our culture and performance goals. There are many development areas that need attention and a workforce that craves training.  We are growing rapidly and need someone to support the many new staff who will be joining during our expansion.

What You Will Do?

  • You will plan and create all training related requirements for our rapidly expanding Pretrial Services division including orientation
  • You will develop and implement the strategy for staff development and blended learning.
  • ·        You will identify staff development needs and create, deliver and curate training for employees at all levels.
  • You will manage and own the internship program coordinating with social work schools, forensic mental health counseling, peer, credible messenger training programs, universities and other sources.
  • You will train the CASES workforce to recognize the value of staff with lived experience as integral to the agency’s workforce and establish appropriate supports for peers, credible messengers and their supervisors, including support and affinity groups, training and review of policies and procedures.
  • You will implement and fully utilize our learning management system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in, training and development, education, human resources, social work, psychology or related field and 7+ years of work experience required. Master’s degree in training and development, education, human resources, social work, psychology is a plus.
  • At least 3+ years’ experience developing and delivering learning and development to an adult population
  • Certification in Motivational Interviewing or willingness to become certified.
  • Demonstrated experience optimizing learning management systems (LMS)
  • Curriculum development expertise
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to adapt to various audiences
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to administer multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload
  • Strong consultative and coaching skills and ability to effectively navigate organizational hierarchies and organizational culture
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles of training, adult learning, human capital development and implementation science and the ability to analyze and determine agency needs
