Director, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) - Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (Licensed Psychologist or LCSW only)

Overview: Reporting to the Director of the Nathaniel Clinic, the IOP Coordinator will coordinate the delivery and scheduling of IOP services while also carrying a small caseload of IOP clients who are at especially high-risk for (re-)institutionalization (e.g., hospitalization and/or incarceration).  The individual and group services will provide the focused, problem-solving and skill-development interventions IOP clients need as part of engaging in Nathaniel Clinic treatment plans focused on acute stabilization and supporting community tenure/avoidance of hospitalization and/or incarceration. Consistent with OMH guidance for IOP services, the program will also include targeted family engagement efforts by including family members in treatment planning, providing psychoeducation to family, and/or inviting family members to join individual or group sessions as appropriate. 

Job Description

•    Provide compassionate clinical treatment in accordance with the scope of practice and regulations governing Article 31 outpatient mental health clinics.
•    Facilitates the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), utilizing evidenced based program curriculum as well as incorporating individual service plan (ISP) goals of clients in to IOP treatment.
•    Manage workload using centralized scheduling that will require advance planning and coordination with supervisory and administrative staff.
•    Conduct screening and assessment in accordance with the use of validated screening tools to screen and assess for depression, trauma, substance use, and risk and needs associated with criminal risk.
•    Develop recovery-oriented treatment plans and reviews in collaboration with the client, collaterals, and consented stakeholders such as significant others, criminal justice personnel, primary health care provider, care coordinator, and schools
•    Coordinate care with CASES psychiatrists, nurse practitioner, and administrative staff and closely coordinates with others including criminal justice staff (e.g., ATI staff/probation officers) involved in providing services to your client 
•    Use evidenced sequential screening for risk of violence and closely monitor risk and utilize risk management protocols to appropriately manage and intervene to effectively serve high risk clients.
•    Document treatment contacts using collaborative documentation.
•    Ensure timely and accurate documentation using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR); document all services in accordance with CASES policies, NYSOMH regulations and all relevant federal laws.
•    May supervise other staff members.  

Qualifications

  • NYS PhD/PsyD (preferred) or LCSW
  • Must have strong knowledge of Article 31 regulations (Part 599) and best practices in clinic operations also required
  • 1-3 years of experience in a clinic setting or at least two years of work experience a licensed mental health or substance abuse program
  • High degree of computer literacy is necessary
  • Demonstrated expertise in recovery-oriented, evidenced-based practice
  • Demonstrated experience with diverse adults receiving mental health treatment, including delivery of treatment to individuals with serious mental illness, functional impairments and psychosocial needs (homelessness, justice involvement, poverty, unemployment, poor education)
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Competence with electronic health records (EHR) and paperless charting
  • Must feel comfortable with developing a group curriculum and facilitating or co-facilitating group psychotherapy
