Company Description

CARE International works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice. We put women and girls in the centre because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities.CARE currently works in 100 countries, helping millions of the world’s poorest people find routes out of poverty.

CARE and Procter & Gamble (P&G) have partnered for several years to support the provision of P&G Purifier of Water in the promotion of safe water and hygiene for vulnerable populations in Kenya. This has added to CARE’s service delivery capabilities allowing us to provide innovative solutions to the WASH challenges of specific communities. The overall goal of the CSDW project is to improve the health status and livelihoods of vulnerable populations, specifically, women, children and those with limited access to clean water during flooding, drought or other natural disasters.

The project focuses on improving the quality of water at point of use in health facilities, schools and ECD centres. Through this approach, clients visiting Maternal Child Health and Family Planning clinics, those seeking Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV services and Patient Support Centres, pupils and households receive P&G Purifier of Water supplies to treat their water. Hygiene education in relation to hand washing is also promoted among the clients and beneficiaries through these structures. The project also has a research arm that aims at enhancing sustainability of WASH interventions and strengthening the supply chain of water treatment products in rural communities
