Job Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for meeting customer acquisition and revenue growth targets by keeping our company competitive and innovative. The role is responsible for maximizing our sales team's potential, crafting sales plans in line with the strategic goals of the company and following through with the implementation of the plans.
We are looking for someone who is excited and interested in helping small businesses across Africa grow and succeed as they leverage all that Bumpa can offer.
Responsibilities
Lead the Bumpa SBO demand generation and acquisition strategy to identify, engage and close new businesses within Bumpa’s strategic sectors
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely, successful onboarding process flow of newly acquired SBOs within the stipulated time frame
Manage the sales cycle from pipeline generation to close, for qualified SBO leads to deliver on the quarterly revenue targets for the team
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and operational teams both within and outside of Bumpa including SBOs, aggregators, and partners
Report pipeline and sales activity data in a CRM to provide visibility on potential and closed business, and facilitate monitoring of business performance
Lead client onboarding and refresher training programs along with the Success team in addition to other engagement activities to increase revenue from existing SBOs
Build the sales team and manage the team’s functions and rituals; including stand-ups, 1:1s, coaching and reporting
Qualifications
Requirements
At least 2 years of experience building and leading a high-performance BD/Sales team in a fast-paced environment
An understanding of how to build teams and culture considering recruitment, people development and coaching
Experience managing and closing various sales cycles, ideally with experience in payments and SME products
Excellent communicator and storyteller, communicating concepts and ideas to stakeholders at all levels
Strong presentation skills, particularly for in-person meetings with multiple stakeholders
Excellent leadership and relationship-building skills with the ability to inspire, influence, motivate and support teams or partners to get things done
Good knowledge of the local market with a strong interest in software/technology
Genuine empathy towards business owners and passion for solving complex problems
An entrepreneurial mindset that can thrive in ambiguity and getting things done
