Job Description

The Growth Lead's primary responsibility is to accelerate the performance of our merchants through growth marketing, experimentation and optimization programs. The role is also responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of growth strategies across different areas of the business, including content creation, SEO optimization, partnerships, paid advertising, email marketing and conversion rate optimization. The candidate would be expected to contribute to the product and marketing roadmaps leveraging insights from merchant performance and market trends. In addition, this role will work to drive improvements to help more entrepreneurs across Africa discover how Bumpa is right for them.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leading strategy development and execution to drive merchant acquisition, engagement and retention, as well as increase our market share and reach our growth targets in line with the company's strategic goals 

  2. Create and maintain an active list of qualified merchant leads for our existing and also new products

  3. Collaborate with marketing, product and other cross-functional teams to build an understanding of merchant behaviour, identify opportunities, optimize existing and establish new, cost-effective processes to achieve and exceed our revenue goals

  4. Lead experimentation programs to drive optimization at scale across all our growth channels based on data-driven insights

  5. Analyzing business performance and creating monthly/quarterly reviews

  6. Own prioritization and execution of product changes to drive growth in partnership with engineers, product managers, designers, data scientists and content strategists 

  7. Build and manage a successful growth team while fostering a culture that aligns with and promotes company values 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have in-depth knowledge of business operations and the marketing industry, an analytical mindset, the ability to think outside of the box and superb leadership and management skills. You must also stay up-to-date with industry trends and perform regular, thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify the best practices and apply them to our growth initiatives.  

  • 7+ years in growth marketing, management consulting or product management

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master or MBA is a plus)

  • Experience working in online B2B SaaS businesses or on consumer growth

  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills; able to distil complex concepts into clear and concise language 

  • Ability to work autonomously, focusing on key outcomes amidst competing priorities and tight deadlines 

  • Experience developing and executing A/B tests, analyzing, and translating data into business/user insights

  • Strong people leadership, relationship building and collaboration skills; ability to influence others and drive decisions

  • Strong data fluency and in-depth understanding of analytics tools; and ability to use both quantitative and qualitative means to map strategy, decisions, product iterations, and roadmap prioritization

  • Experience with performance marketing channels

  • Entrepreneurial experience bootstrapping your own business is a plus
