Job Description
BryceTech is seeking a Senior Engineer/Scientist to provide scientific, engineering, and technical advisory support to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Warfare Directorate (AFRL/RJ) and Information and Spectrum Warfare Directorate (AFRL/RF) under the JUPITER program at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.
The Senior Engineer/Scientist will provide technical expertise and advisory support for research and development, technology planning, technical assessments, strategic planning, and technology investment activities. The position will support AFRL efforts to develop, evaluate, demonstrate, and transition advanced technologies and systems that address evolving warfighter requirements.
The JUPITER mission encompasses space warfare and information and spectrum warfare technologies, including space communications, positioning, navigation and timing, space warfare cyber, modeling and simulation, space warfare evaluation and analysis, defensive space warfare control, space warfare situational awareness, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, high-powered electromagnetics, laser systems, electro-optics, and related technologies.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level scientific, engineering, and technical advisory support to AFRL/RJ and AFRL/RF
- Support technical and strategic planning activities related to space warfare and information and spectrum warfare technology investments
- Evaluate technologies, systems, concepts, and research and development activities for technical merit, feasibility, capability, maturity, and potential warfighter impact
- Conduct and support technical studies, analyses, evaluations, assessments, and trade studies
- Provide technical input to near-term and long-term technology investment and acquisition strategies
- Support the development, assessment, and refinement of technology and enterprise investment approaches
- Analyze emerging technologies and assess their potential application to future space warfare and information and spectrum warfare capabilities
- Support technology development, maturation, demonstration, integration, and transition activities
- Provide technical expertise in support of research and development programs, technology experiments, prototypes, demonstrations, and related activities
- Support technical reviews, working groups, committees, Scientific Advisory Boards, Office of Scientific Research Reviews, and other technical forums as required
- Prepare technical documents, analyses, briefings, presentations, recommendations, and other decision-support materials
- Present technical findings and recommendations to government leadership and other senior stakeholders
- Collaborate with AFRL personnel, other government organizations, industry, academia, federally funded research and development centers, and other technical partners
- Provide independent technical judgment and recommendations regarding technology investments, research priorities, technical approaches, and future capabilities
- Monitor developments within relevant technical communities and assess their implications for AFRL research and development priorities
- Apply professional engineering and scientific expertise to complex technical and strategic problems
- Support other technical planning and advisory activities within the scope of the JUPITER program
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility (TS/SCI)
- PhD degree in engineering or science disciplines with seven years of experience, or master’s degree in engineering or science disciplines with nine years of experience, or bachelor’s degree in engineering or science disciplines with twelve years of experience
- Demonstrated experience in Space or Information and Spectrum systems and/or technologies
- Demonstrated experience providing engineering, scientific, or technical support relevant to research and development activities
- Ability to conduct technical analysis, evaluation, assessment, and provide sound technical recommendations
- Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively through written products, briefings, and presentations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting AFRL, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, DARPA, DoD, or other government research and development organizations
- Experience supporting space warfare, information and spectrum warfare, or related national security technology programs
- Experience in one or more of the following technical areas: space communications, positioning/navigation/timing, space cyber, space modeling and simulation, space situational awareness, ISR, high-powered electromagnetics, laser systems, electro-optics, or related technologies
- Experience with technology investment planning, R&D portfolio planning, technology maturation, or technology transition
- Experience supporting technical reviews, Scientific Advisory Boards, technical working groups, or similar advisory forums
- Experience working across government, industry, academia, and other research organizations
- Experience developing executive-level technical briefings, studies, analyses, and recommendations
- Established professional standing within a relevant scientific or engineering community
- Experience translating emerging technologies and scientific developments into actionable recommendations for senior government leadership
