Job Description

A market leader in the provision of Financial Solutions to Global Markets is looking for an experienced Programme Manager to join the existing team based in Tokyo, supporting global programmes in the banking domain.  This role is to manage a multi-year implementation programme for multiple global locations of a major Japanese bank, covering a broad range of products.

The successful candidate will be the primary contact point for the bank client, aligning their requirements with the global Broadridge IT delivery and implementation functions and, as such, must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of IT change delivery in a financial services environment (preferably banking). Ideally having worked for a solution provider or alternatively being experienced in vendor management from a client perspective, the successful candidate must be confident and self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The ideal candidate would be familiar with banking operations and be confident in their knowledge of operational processing across a number of global markets.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for:

  • Delivery of a multi-year, multi-streamed programme to migrate banking operations to new platforms, across the multiple product range

  • Providing overall leadership for the programme while maintaining a focus on achieving results

  • Acting as the primary contact point for the end client throughout the project lifecycle, including the development and presentation of programme plans, progress reports and acceptance by the client of the final product, including participation in client workshops

  • Internal senior stakeholder management and close liaison with development and support teams

  • Ensuring the appropriate allocation and skilling of resources and their effective deployment throughout the programme

  • Coordination with our global product delivery groups in UK, US and India, ensuring deliveries meet overall programme needs

  • Active management of the overall programme to contractual obligations of all parties and the management of change control to those obligations

  • Financial, technical and schedule reporting

  • Ensuring that the programme is delivered to internal policies and controls

  • Risk management and problem solving

  • Active engagement with clients, third parties and suppliers

  • The development of programme plans, including delivery, testing, logistics, in-service support, training and documentation

Qualifications

Essential requirements for this position are:

  • Native Japanese or JLPT N1 required

  • Proven track record of programme delivery within a financial services environment and preferably experience of large scale integration programmes, managing multiple parallel streams

  • Strong experience of Solution Provider / Client relationship management preferable for the provider perspective.

  • Excellent organisational and planning skills

  • Strong influencing skills and experience of working in a matrix environment

  • Strong leadership qualities and self-motivated, used to working autonomously with little supervision

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with both business and technology stakeholders at any level

  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to influence effective outcomes

  • Experience of different project delivery methodologies, e.g. Agile / Waterfall and the ability to manage to combinations of these, depending on programme needs

  • Demonstrated contract and general negotiation skills experience

  • Prior Experience of working with offshore and onshore teams

  • Formal project management qualifications
