Job Description

This is a Part-time 12 position.

Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, incumbent will provide transportation services to residents and staff as needed.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for providing transportation for the residents and staff of Broadmead. 

  • Responsible for ensuring that safety is given the highest priority when transporting residents outside of the community. 

  • Responsible for making recommendations regarding the maintenance, upkeep, emission testing, and other service requirements for the vehicles used for resident transportation. 

  • Responsible for handling emergency situations when called upon which could arise while away from the community, and must have the ability to exercise good judgment while maintaining composure in such cases. 

  • Ability to respond to residents who may become ill while away from Broadmead. 

  • Ability to assist residents with getting in and out of the car, or on and off the bus. 

  • Ability to operate the wheelchair lifts on the bus for those residents requiring such assistance. 

  • Able and willing to work evenings and weekends when called upon to do so. 

  • Be able to provide back-up assistance at the Reception Desk when not driving.  These duties include, but are not limited to, providing general information for residents or visitors to Broadmead, delivering packages, assisting with resident cart rides, distributing Holly House keys, and proper delivery of newspapers and mail to residents on Hallowell and Taylor Halls. 

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Accountable for promoting internal customer service.

  • Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties

  • Perform other related duties as required


  • Requires a high school education and three years experience in this or related field.

  • Requires current valid drivers’ license and/or commercial driver’s license.

  • Requires a clean driving record as approved by the Director of Campus Safety.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Maryland driving laws.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance and servicing.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and practices.

  • Comprehensive knowledge on the proper use of mobile phones.

  • General knowledge of Broadmead policies and procedures.

  • Requires proven ability to work effectively and with initiative in a multifaceted position requiring attention to a variety of issues simultaneously.

  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with residents, visitors, and staff.

  • Professional Personal Appearance and Hygiene.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to hear, see and speak adequately (with or without accommodations) to perform the essential functions of the job

  • Ability to perform repetitive movement actions including walking, standing and sitting for long periods of time to adequately perform the essential functions of the job

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to work in inside environmental conditions
