Job Description

This is a Full-Time position (40 hrs.) - Day(s) of the week every other weekend. 11:00am-7:30pm

Under the close supervision of the Dietary Manager, incumbent is responsible for creating an enjoyable dining experience for our residents and their guests. Follows established order and style of serving in the HCU Dining Room.

Essential Duties:

 

  1. Must be familiar with modified diets.

  2. Is involved in ensuring the nutritional adequacy through serving food as indicated on modified diets, as well as providing feedback from residents to the Dietary Manager and Dietician, on nutritional problems.

  3. Follows all safety and sanitation rules and regulations.

  4. Modifies food consistency to meet individual needs.

  5. Trains new employees as instructed.

  6. Attends all in-service training to ensure that all rules and regulations are being followed.

  7. Will be an active part in revising and implementing rules and new regulations as they come into play.

  8. Responsible for cleaning, bussing and resetting of dishes.

  9. Maintains a clean, neat appearance.

  10. Assist residents with seating and satisfactory handling of situations as they arise.

  11. Perform additional tray line duties and projects as assigned by lead dietary aide or supervisor.

  12. Ensure the dining experience is pleasant and enjoyable through cheerful behavior and by properly following established procedures for style and order of service.

  13. Ensuring that nutritional adequacy is provided by following established procedures and providing appropriate feedback to supervisor.

  14. Follows all Federal, State and County regulations and codes regarding food - procedures and sanitation by following established guidelines.

  15. Ensures that the training duties provide new servers with optimum skills and knowledge in order to perform in the Health Care Dining Room and reinforces those skills.

  16. Ensures that we meet county and state regulations as reflected in inspections.

  17. Ensures that special diets are served in accordance to their prescribed diet including fluids.

  18. Responsible for meal accuracy prior to delivery.

  19. Monitor all resident food likes and dislikes, Reports observed problems with chewing or swallowing to the supervisor or dietitian.

  20. Communicate pertinent information daily to the supervisor or dietitian

  21. Ensure proper food service handling.

  22. Performs other duties as assigned. Accountable for promoting internal customer service.

  23. Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties

  24. Ensure residents nourishments are prepared and served at appointed time

  25. Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of proper dining room service, sanitation, and safety procedures.

  • Possess the ability to follow instruction, work well with others, and maintain a good rapport with residents.

  • Possess the ability to cope with the extensive needs of the older adults with, ie., physical handicap and/or varying degrees of disorientation.

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Possess the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with sufficient timing.

  • Possess the ability to follow the directions of Dietician and Nursing Management.

  • Possess the ability to perform well during state and county inspections.

  • General knowledge of alterations of food.

  • Knows proper OBRA regulations to maintain sanitation of the kitchen.

  • Successful completion of an 8 hrs. Dementia program (Broadmead offers this course)

  • Successful completion of a CPR class (Broadmead offers this course)

  • Has basic knowledge of HACCP (Prefered).

  • Has general knowledge of Universal Precautions.

  • Has general knowledge of OSHA regulation.

  • Must know the difference in modified diets.

  • Must have the latitude to individualize each resident’s needs

  • Covered by standard policies and procedures.

  • Refers customer complaints to supervisor.
