Job Description

This is a Full-Time position (40 hrs a week) : 11:00 am. - 7:30pm. (Days of the week : varies)

Under the supervision of the Assistant Executive Chef, incumbent is responsible for creating an enjoyable dining experience for our Residents, Guests, Staff, and Visitors by providing the highest degree of Customer Service possible. The Cafe Supervisor is an entry level management position designed for individuals to begin expanding their work knowledge and supervisory responsibilities. The Café Supervisor will lead the day-to-day Cafe operation with emphasis on Customer Service, Resident, Staff, and Guest satisfaction. They will provide leadership, support, motivation and development of team members creating a positive environment that encourages ownership and accountability providing a quality guest experience.

This role will monitor and ensure exceptional service and food quality and presentation. They will work with the Assistant Executive Chef to provide a seamless Guest Experience. The Cafe Supervisor will act as a liaison between management and the Staff, bringing any concerns and problems of the Residents and Guests to the attention of management and communicating management’s goals and decisions. The Café Supervisor is a Full-time position reporting to the Assistant Executive Chef.

Essential Duties:


  1. Ensures the dining experience is enjoyable through cheerful behavior and careful following of established procedures for merchandising, plate presentation, service, food preparation, and sanitation from their self and as well as ensuring the other servers are doing the same.

  2. Maintains required records and receipts and ensure proper handling of all cash, coupon, and charge receipts by carefully following established procedures.

  3. Ensures that the operation of the Cafe meets all State and County health regulations and codes regarding sanitation and food handling.

  4. Follows all safety and sanitation rules and regulations according to Serve Safe/County Requirements.

  5. Responsible for merchandising food items, cleaning of equipment and sanitation of all Cafe areas.

  6. Responsible for proper plate presentation, food preparation as required and decoration of the Cafe under the supervision of the Assistant Executive Chef..

  7. Responsible for following weekly and monthly activities calendars.

  8. Responsible for Scheduling, Evaluating, Training, and discipline of all Café Staff.

  9. Responsible for ensuring each server shall be totally responsible for his/her shift’s cash drawer after receiving same from Manager on Duty.

  10. Responsible for the serving of all customers in a timely and efficient manner.

  11. Responsible for filling in as Café cook when asked to do so.

  12. Responsible for knowing the whereabouts of all staff at all times.

  13. Responsible for giving as well as ensuring that all staff are giving the highest level of customer service as possible.

  14. Responsible for ensuring a smooth running foodservice operation.

  15. Responsible for overall cleanliness of the Arbor Café.

  16. Responsible for scheduling Monthly In-service Meetings of all Café Staff.

  17. Responsible for properly taking and recording of all temperatures of food. As Well as ensuring all staff is doing the same.

  18. Responsible for Closing of the Café at the end of each night.

  19. Performs additional duties and projects as assigned by the Assistant Executive Chef.

  20. Accountable for promoting internal customer service.

  21. Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties


  • General knowledge of sanitation, safety, and proper food handling procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of proper plate presentation, food presentation, and handling techniques.

  • General knowledge of cash register operation, handling of cash and charge receipts.

  • Significant interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse staff, guests and residents

  • Comprehensive knowledge of software i.e. Word, Excel, Answers on Demand (POS System)

  • Must possess the ability to follow instructions, work well with others, and maintain a good rapport with residents, staff, and guests.

  • Must possess the ability to work well independently, given proper training and direction.

  • Previous Supervisory Experience Required.

  • ServSafe Certified

Problem Solving:

  • Has latitude to deal with some problems.

  • Confers with supervisor on unusual problems.
