This is a Part-Time Position (less than 12 hrs a week) : Hours 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., 3 days a week
Under the supervision of the Sous Chef, the incumbent is responsible for the proper plating of the meals to be served in the Holly Terrace Room. This includes proper garnishing, portioning, plate arrangement, and quality of food.
Responsible for replenishing the Holly Terrace room buffet.
Prepare line for serving, cuts, washes, and prepares garnish.
Work with cooks to coordinate ala carte items for proper presentation.
Responsible for daily inventory on cookies for the whole department.
Work closely with the cook to ensure that the highest quality meal is being served.
Communicates directly with the cook, informing that person of the needs at the line as well as product deficiencies.
Maintains a sufficient quantity of hot plates.
Takes temperatures of foods periodically.
Participates in a “clean as you go” program ensuring a clean working area at all times.
Accurately counts dining room entrees and reports this information to the cooks and the Manager on duty.
Cleans area thoroughly before leaving in the evening.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Basic knowledge of proper knife and plate and portioning techniques.
Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices.
Must possess the ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with other staff.
Has latitude to deal with most problems.
Confers with supervisor on unusual problems.
