Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, is responsible for resident care on a specific nursing unit. Supervises clinical and clerical activities required of the unit.
Determines staffing needs and resources required for effective administration of nursing care for resident population
Assists and supervises staff in the planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of resident care services
Works with nursing staff for orientation, development, and evaluation of personnel
Makes walking rounds several times per shift
Participates in formulating care plans
Participates in committees for the development of nursing care policies and procedures including Wellspring Care Resource Teams
Communicates and cooperates with physicians, other departments, families, and the public
Provides an appropriate environment for residents’ needs and for the available resources
Conducts and documents a thorough audit of each residents’ medical status within 24-48 hours of admission and throughout the residents’ course of treatment
Assists in the development and implementation of an individualized treatment paln for each assigned resident
Completes required documentation in an accurate and timely manner
Oversees care delivery by Licensed Nurses and Geriatric Nursing Assistants
Attends and/or participates in rehab team conferences regarding resident progress, problems and needs
Attends and/or participates in department/facility meetings, as required
Acts in compliance with Broadmead, regulatory and professional standards and guidelines
Assesses continuing education opportunities appropriate to discipline and responsibilities in order to maintain clinical currency
Adheres to facility policies and procedures and participates in facility quality improvement programs
Performs other duties as assigned
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Valid license as registered licensed practical nurse in Maryland
A minimum of Two (2) years of experience in a setting serving the same age/type of resident population served by this facility
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to read, write and speak the English language
Must maintain a current license as registered nurse
Possess the ability to communicate and deal tactfully with personnel
Must be able to work harmoniously with other personnel
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
Must be able to work independently
Must be knowledgeable in nursing duties and use of equipment
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day
Must be able to cope with interruptions, be flexible and a team player
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
Dependability and Initiative Expectations
Reports to work each day on time and as scheduled.
Participates in appropriate in-service education, meeting State in-service requirements.
Actively participates in required meetings, arriving on time unless prior arrangements have been made.
Takes initiative in performing job as evidenced by offering new ideas solutions, informing supervisor of potential problems/hazards, using time, equipment, and supplies efficiently, assuming extra duties willingly, and participating in educational programs to keep abreast of new developments, procedures, and technologies.
