Job Description

This is a Part-time Flex position (less than 12 hrs a week).

Under the supervision of the Holly Terrace Supervisor, incumbent is responsible for creating an enjoyable dining experience for Broadmeads’ residents and their guests.

Essential Duties:

  1. Ensures the dining room experience is a pleasant and enjoyable one through cheerful behavior and by properly following established procedures for American Style of service

  2. Ensures resident and guest safety by understanding food intolerances, allergies, and special needs We work with independent residents and we don’t know their special diet needs.

  3. Communicates effectively with all residents and guests

  4. Speaks clearly and professionally

  5. Able to recite all ingredients in food products to residents or guests. They don’t serve the food only drinks.  This is more for a line server.

  6. Able to serve six or more station configurations different station configurations, we don’t have an exact amount.

  7. Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to change

  8. Follows all safety and sanitation rules and regulations

  9. Responsible for clearing all dishes and bussing

  10. Resets tables

  11. Maintains a clean and neat appearance

  12. Responsible for on/call days to report to Host/Hostess

  13. Performs additional duties as assigned

  14. Accountable for promoting internal customer service

  15. Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of American Style Service, sanitation and safety procedures

  • Basic knowledge of buffet service

  • Possess the ability to follow instructions, work well with other and maintain a good rapport with the residents and their guests

  • Must understand proper plate presentation since it’s a buffet they do not plate up residents food.  They may have to get plates for residents that are not able to get to the buffet but the line servers are there to help dish up the plates they need. Again I know this was on the previous job description.

  • Must be able to distinguish portion sizes and differentiate between rare, medium, and well done

  • Must possess effective communication skills

  • Able to carry trays with weights up to ten (10) pounds

  • Ability to bend, handle hot plates, and work for a minimum of two hours standing

  • Has the latitude to deal with most problems

  • Refers unusual problems to the supervisor

Physical Demands:

·         Ability to hear, see and speak adequately (with or without accommodations) to perform the essential functions of the job

·         Ability to perform repetitive movement actions including walking, standing and sitting for long periods of time to adequately perform the essential functions of the job

·         Ability to lift up to 20 pounds

·         Ability to work in inside environmental conditions

Hazards:

·         May be exposed to blood-borne pathogens, chemical hazards and respiratory hazards, infection, odors and behavior problems associated with the aging process.
