Job Description

This is a Full-Time position (40 hrs a week) : Days/hours of the week will vary.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Executive Chef, incumbent is responsible for creating an enjoyable dining experience for our Residents and their guests, staff, and visitors by providing the highest degree of Customer Service possible.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensures the dining experience is enjoyable through cheerful behavior and careful following of established procedures for merchandising, plate presentation, service, food preparation, and sanitation from their self and as well as ensuring the other servers are doing the same.

  • Maintains required records and receipts and ensure proper handling of all cash, coupon, and charge receipts by carefully following established procedures.

  • Ensures that the operation of the Cafe meets all State and County health regulations and codes regarding sanitation and food handling.

  • Follows all safety and sanitation rules and regulations.

  • Responsible for merchandising food items, cleaning of equipment and sanitation of all Cafe areas.

  • Responsible for proper plate presentation, food preparation as required and decoration of the Cafe under the supervision of the Cafe Supervisor.

  • Responsible for following weekly and monthly activities calendars.

  • Responsible for Ensuring Each server shall be totally responsible for his/her shift’s cash drawer after receiving same from MOD.

  • Responsible for the serving of all customers in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Responsible for working the Grill and flat top when needed.

  • Responsible for filling in as Café cook when asked to do so.

  • Responsible for knowing the whereabouts of all staff at all times.

  • Responsible for giving as well as ensuring that all staff are giving the highest level of customer service as possible.

  • Responsible for ensuring a smooth running foodservice operation.

  • Responsible for overall cleanliness of the Arbor Café.

  • Responsible for properly taking and recording of all temperatures of food. As Well as ensuring all staff is doing the same.

  • Responsible for Closing of the Café at the end of each night.

  • Performs additional duties and projects as assigned by Manager.


  • General knowledge of sanitation, safety, and proper food handling procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of proper plate presentation, food presentation, and handling techniques.

  • General knowledge of cash register operation, handling of cash and charge receipts.

  • Must possess the ability to follow instructions, work well with others, and maintain a good rapport with residents, staff, and guests.

  • Must possess the ability to work well independently, given proper training and direction.

  • Previous Supervisory Experience Required.

Problem Solving:


  • Has latitude to deal with some problems.

  • Confers with supervisor on unusual problems.
