Job Description
We are currently looking for a Human Resources People Advisor, Investigations to join our growing team! This is an integral role in ensuring fair and respectful treatment of employees, consistent with Brightspeed’s core beliefs. You will split time leading employee investigations and supporting the HR Business Partner (HRBP) in delivery of a range of HR issues, such as employee relations, performance management, involuntary terminations, policy interpretation, and organizational changes. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, People Advisory, you will be the first point of contact for all people-related advice and support. You will serve as an operational expert providing day-to-day advice, guidance and coaching to employees and leaders across the business.
As a Human Resources People Advisor, Investigations, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Conduct employee investigations (e.g., employment discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, management practices, controlled substances, off duty misconduct) and promptly report any compliance related concerns and work through to appropriate resolution
- As part of the investigation process, conduct intake meetings, background research, data analysis, document review, issue-spotting, investigative interviews, preparation of report and findings, and read-out meetings with management
- Prepare concise Reports of Investigation for read-out calls to Senior Management
- Partner with Ethics & Compliance to ensure employee complaints are documented properly and cases are documented timely in case management platform
- In partnership with the HRBP, identify and make recommendations on remedial measures following investigations
- Serve as a trusted advisor and influencer providing candid and unbiased counsel through an interactive partnership with the business
- Utilizing a consultative approach, create a positive and consistent employee relations approach; support, coach and upskill managers to fulfil their role as people leaders
- Guide managers through the appropriate steps to be taken for corrective action due to disciplinary or performance issues
- Lead the business through the involuntary exit process (e.g., involuntary terminations)
- Partner with HRBPs to guide managers through the execution of organizational changes, including partnering with other HR Centers of Excellence (COEs)
- Ensure compliance with company policies, state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws
- Partner cross-functionally to develop and implement new procedures or process improvements to continually improve efficiency and improve the employee experience
- Maintain all sensitive information in accordance with our policies on Privacy and the Code of Conduct
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Business disciplines, or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of professional human resources experience in leading employee investigations, employee relations, manager coaching, and human resources administration
- Experience operating as a true HR generalist in a shared services model with an understanding of the various HR disciplines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workload, adapt to changes quickly, and build effective relationships across the organization
- Experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally to ensure the right decisions are made for our people
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate well with employees and managers
- Thorough understanding of state and federal employment law with a high level of discretion and confidentiality
