Job Description

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for managing, directing and setting key financial and non-financial sales objectives for their sales region. In addition, responsibilities include the sales management of their overall region of responsibility. They will also manage and grow a small strategic account base. Time allocation: 75% Regional Management / 25% Personal Account Management. 40-45% regional territory travel required.

Primary Duties: Sales Strategy and Execution

  • Develop an Effective Regional Sales Strategy.
  • In conjunction with management and the marketing department, develop an annual business plan that includes strategic/tactical initiatives, business overview by sector, profitability forecast, personnel needs and organizational requirements, market trends and conditions, and expense requirements. The plan will coincide with national marketing strategy of key suppliers/products (roadmap). 
  • Identify growth opportunities in the region and help regional sales representative close business.

Secondary Duties: Deliver Outstanding Sales Results

  • Provide leadership and direction for the region's sales teams, through training and joint calls.
  • Maintain oversight and accountability for average selling prices, overall profitability, and volume sold in the region. 
  • Increase sales through superior customer targeting, effective time and territory management and sound tactical strategies that hold sale representatives accountable for results. 
  • Develop corrective action plans for regional sales representatives who are not effectively managing their sales time and sales functions; sales call calendar, existing business, opportunities, samples and call reports. 
  • Oversee the leadership and direction of the regional sales team, including selection, development, and training of regional sales representatives. 
  • Establish key relationships with key principal and key customer's management teams. 
  • Manage the Sales Function. 
  • Develop and monitor sales forecasts and budgets in conjunction with the Marketing team.
  • Develop and monitor metrics to aid in the short and long-term forecast of sales in the various markets within the region. 
  • Model and promote organizational values and behaviors, including our Brenntag Core Values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably science-based) from four-year college or university, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  •  5 - 10 years of successful chemical distributions sales preferred
  • Regional sales management experience 
  • Wholesale/Distribution/Chemical industry experience preferred

The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Ability to travel up to 45% 
  • Strong knowledge of specialty chemical distribution market and the competition
  • Ability to develop and implement sales strategies for profitable growth
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of customers, personnel, and management, including the ability to build and deliver presentations
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to build and deliver presentations throughout all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to manage high level relationships at our key principal and customer accounts. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM Software 
  • Excellent time management, organization, follow up, and task prioritization
