Job Description
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations on assigned projects that include both new construction and renovation of existing buildings.
- Familiarity of the project including owner expectations, scope of work, material & equipment budget, and milestones.
- Knowledge of VOSHA/OSHA requirements and Bread Loaf Safety Programs
- Assure all inspections and tests are performed as required by code, project documents and Bread Loaf standards.
- Create project schedule to meet key dates as outlined by the Project Manager.
- Document all activities and events through daily reports. Maintain an As-Built set of drawings for project completion.
- Forecast labor and material need. Coordinate with Shop Supervisor for tool requirements and supplies.
- Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings and be an active member in Owner meetings.
- Provide on-the-job training opportunities to improve trade skills for field employees.
*This position will frequently require travel and possibly overnight stays.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Must posses and exhibit the Bread Loaf values.
- Four year engineering degree in construction or related field, or equivalent technical training and/or experience.
- Advanced understanding of construction best practices for project planning, resource management, quality, safety, schedule and budget.
- Working knowledge of civil, structural, architectural and MEP building systems along with a demonstrated ability to supervise subcontractors and self-performed work, and the ability to delegate to support staff on large projects is essential.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of supervisory experience in commercial, institutional and/or manufacturing facility construction projects ranging from $5M to $15M is desired.
