The role requires expertise in content marketing (specifically skills in SEO, keyword research, topic generation and content optimization) in addition to being a talented writer and motivated team player.

You’ll manage Brandpoint’s content writing practice by overseeing a staff of writers and ensuring the content they create follows SEO best practices and drives the goals of our clients. You will be a key player in client elation and content operations, assessing productivity and utilization to optimize profit margin. You’ll also dive right in with your team to develop high-quality, branded content, and be the face of our writing team in prospect discussions, as needed.

Job Description

Management

  • Manage and coach the writing staff of our content marketing practice. Recruit, hire, manage and retain content developers. Provide guidance, training and mentorship to help the team grow their skills. 
  • Assure quality. Verify that Brandpoint is delivering high-quality content that meets customers' expectations and helps drive their goals. Ensure that internal processes are being followed. Work with client, account manager and writer to resolve any issues.
  • Manage resources. Assess and monitor capacity and utilization to ensure optimal productivity. Assign incoming content marketing work to writers. Monitor workloads and redistribute assignments when needed.
  • Manage to profitability standards. Monitor and adjust utilization and productivity as needed to achieve profitability standards and maintain quality.
  • Monitor and understand client satisfaction levels. Work with writers to address any client satisfaction or retention concerns, and coach them on identifying account growth opportunities. 
  • Uphold Brandpoint's mission of providing top-notch service. Assist with sales pitches as needed, to be the face of the content marketing writing practice. Provide excellent service to clients. Work directly with clients to understand their business and content marketing objectives (presentations, meetings, project communication in-person or via phone/email, etc.) 

Content Development – Writing

  • Create search-optimized content (blogs, whitepapers, eBooks, case studies, infographics, video scripts, social media posts, email/newsletters, product descriptions, webinars, website content and other promotional materials)
  • Write across Brandpoint content categories and about complex subject matter for a B2B audience. Could include: finance, medical, IT, manufacturing and professional services
  • Translate complex information into consumer-friendly language that drives action
  • Build expertise in each client’s industry through online research and interviewing
  • subject-matter experts
  • Follow standards and best practices for content creation, voice, tone, style, distribution, maintenance and content repurposing
  • Collaborate with strategists, designers, account managers, editors and product managers to deliver exceptional-quality content that meets various market needs
  • Work within Brandpoint’s content management software to track time, monitor assignments, etc.
  • Write for client accounts as needed (initial target is 35% billable time).

Qualifications

  • BA in communications, journalism, marketing or equivalent
  • Solid experience managing a team of writers
  • Expertise in content marketing strategy and planning and content marketing writing, specifically skills in SEO, keyword research, topic generation and content optimization
  • Exceptional management, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Process management: Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills, along with ability to inspect processes and workflow to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Excellent writing, analytical and research skills
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills, including working with AP Style
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, creative environment
  • Ability to interact with multi-departmental project teams
