This is a remote work position - hourly - 6+ month-long engagement.

Brainspire Solutions is a custom software development consulting firm located in Denver, Colorado.  We have been contact by one of our partners to fill an Infrastructure Engineer Role.  The contract position is at least 6 months or more with a possibility of a permanent hire if that is desirable to both parties.

The Infrastructure Engineers fill the mission-critical role of ensuring that the complex web-scale systems are health, monitored, automated, and designed to scale.  You will use your background as an operations generalist to work closely with the development and Data center teams in identifying and resolving production issues.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about an operations role that involves deep knowledge of Linux Operating system, Linux Kickstart, Networking, Distributed Systems and he/she will also believe automation is a key component to operating large-scale systems.

This is NOT an SRE role!

The Infrastructure Engineers fill the mission-critical role of ensuring that the complex web-scale systems are health, monitored, automated, and designed to scale.  You will use your background as an operations generalist to work closely with the development and Data center teams in identifying and resolving production issues.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about an operations role that involves deep knowledge of Linux Operating system, Linux Kickstart, Networking, Distributed Systems and he/she will also believe automation is a key component to operating large-scale systems.

While this is a remote position, you will be connecting to the clients physical hardware.  This includes 250,000+ servers and requires current and extensive Linux Kickstart knowledge.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary point responsible for the overall server builds platform
• Gain deep knowledge of how to scale and manage infrastructure at a large scale
• Assist in the roll-out and deployment of new products features and installations to facilitate our rapid iteration and constant growth
• Work closely with development teams to ensure that platforms are designed with "operability" in mind
• Work closely with Data center technicians within US to troubleshoot, identify improvements with server builds infrastructure 
• Function will in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
• Participate in a 12x7 rotation for second-tier escalations

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• 4+ years with Linux Kickstart
• 4+ years of experience with Linux systems administration
• 2+ years of experience Python, Go, Ruby, Java, or similar programming language
• Python experience, specifically for systems automation
• Experience with configuration management software like Puppet, CFEngine, Ansible
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and an ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with other SREs, Engineers, Product Managers, etc.
• Good RESTful API and systems design sensibilities
• Experience with general performance tuning and optimization of all aspects of platforms and services (systems, network, code)
• Experience in troubleshooting that spans systems, network, and code
• Broad understanding of Internet protocols and network programming
