Brace Yourself Games is expanding. The creators of Cadence of Hyrule, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Phantom Brigade, and Industries of Titan are now hiring a Game Director for an exciting new project!

• ​​Working with the team to design and drive the overall game vision and holistic player experience
• Implementing gameplay systems to allow for rapid iteration and design feedback (Unreal) 
• Articulating and communicating the "Why" of design through quality design documentation
• Taking on feedback while maintaining ownership and forging the best path forward through multiple stages of development through to ship
• Reporting to the Game Design Director to ensure quality of the game’s design & design team
• Working alongside production to align on target outcomes, road-mapping and priorities for the team
• Regularly playing and providing feedback on the game to maintain a project wide view
• Researching similar games to develop deep understanding of standards and player expectations

• 6+ years of professional game design experience (2+ of those as a senior / feature owner)
• Substantial experience with systems design, iteration and gameplay implementation in Unreal
• Excellent knowledge of design fundamentals, core gameplay loops and systems design
• Multiple shipped games with knowledge of the entire game development process
• Excitement for building inclusive games for diverse audiences
• Experience fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
• Patience, humility, a growth mindset, and an eagerness to help others grow
• Detail oriented, responsive, extremely reliable with excellent communication skills
• Willing to relocate to BC, Canada. (We will sponsor a visa for the right candidate)
• Experience or affinity for strategy / turn based tactics games is a big plus!

Brace Yourself Games is located in downtown Vancouver, Canada. This position is open to in person work at our downtown office or remote work anywhere within BC. This is a permanent full time paid position. Rate of pay is above industry standard and includes a profit sharing plan and an outstanding benefits package. We develop games because games make us happy. If we’re not having fun doing it, what’s the point? No one at BYG is required to work more than 32 hours per week.
