POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent in this position is a high school student or a first year college student pursuing a career in hospitality management. The Program provides experience and exposure to hospitality management.  Positions are available for academic credit and will be paid.  Departments include and are not limited to Hotel Operations & Management, Housekeeping, Group Sales, Food & Beverage, Culinary, Golf, Marketing, and Human Resources.  Duties will vary, dependent on specific department needs, interests of the particular candidate and academic requirements.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The program at Belterra Casino Resort is a career development program designed for students working towards a dedicated interest in the hospitality industry. This paid position will allow participants to gain practical, hands-on work experience and develop career potential in the Gaming and Hospitality Industry. During this time, students will be exposed to a number of real-life work experiences, which may include:

• Working on projects related to key business priorities determined by the assigned department’s leadership
• Exposure to departmental leadership and property senior leaders
• Rotating through critical functional areas
• Participating in company-wide training programs, and attending team meetings
• Building relationships with department leaders, executive team, supervisors, and employees
• Developing and presenting a final project to the executive team which may be used to demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities learned during the program

RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will be responsible for learning the duties, functions, and tasks of the Hotel Operations Department. The incumbent will learn the basic duties and tasks within the department. Duties and tasks will include operational items as well as core guest service skills and abilities such as great guest service etiquette and service recovery. The incumbent will also gain exposure and experience in team member relations and how the department they are working in interacts and co-exists with other departments throughout the property.

REQUIREMENTS

• Enrolled in an accredited high school or college with an interest in hospitality/hotel operations
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• At least 16 years of age by the start of the program and have reliable transportation
