Job Description

Boston Engineering is experiencing high growth in response to continued demand for its engineering development services in our commercial, medical, and defense market segments. Our projects range in complexity and involve some or all of our engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. We are currently seeking a Project Manager who is a results-oriented individual and has demonstrable success in meeting challenging project goals. The ideal candidate is an engineer seeking to transition into project management. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in an internally and externally focused role that requires technical breadth and a can-do attitude to be successful. With guidance from senior management, you will be responsible for scoping, planning, and delivering our projects within schedule and budget constraints while building our client relationship. At the same time, you will lead your project team to fulfill commitments and manage the technical direction and risks within the overarching project constraints.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and effectively manage project schedules and resource plans
  • Utilize project management tools to manage and control labor, material, and expense costs
  • Lead and provide technical direction to multi-disciplined engineering/implementation teams
  • Establish and track scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients
  • Coordinate and conduct periodic project updates with customers in both verbal and written formats reporting on budget, scope, schedule, and risk
  • Communicate status, expectations, and risks to clients/stakeholders with widely varying backgrounds (technical, marketing, sales, finance)
  • Assist in proposal development activities

Requisite Skills:

  • System-level engineering skills with working knowledge of software, electrical, and mechanical tools and processes, with fluency in the development and review of requirements, specifications, and design documents
  • Ability to assess and support technical progress to enable team success
  • Proficient in MS Project, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and MS Visio, JIRA, and Confluence tools (or equivalent)
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong management and organization skills
  • Effective interpersonal and customer interface skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering or Computer Science) with a minimum of 3 years of product development and solving challenging technical problems. Must have experience with electromechanical products with embedded software.
  • Local candidates preferred
