Job Description

Boston Engineering Corporation, an innovative product development engineering company, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is fluent in all aspects of the new product development process, with the ability to work with small teams, and be the mechanical engineering technical lead.  If having a wide breadth of experience in a variety of mechanical engineering areas and a proven track record for new product development from requirements to successful introduction to manufacturing is in your tool belt, we want to talk with you.

In this role, you will: 

  • Develop mechanical designs of electro-mechanical products for low, mid, and high-volume production 
  • Work in small multi-disciplinary teams on fast-paced projects 
  • Develop designs for manufacturing and assembly processes appropriate for the product volumes 
  • Design, build, and test breadboards, proof of principle units, and prototypes as part of the new product development process.
  • Develop specifications, perform analyses, and prepare related design documentation 
  • Understand & practice job role in our quality management system as trained 

This position is an office-based role at our Waltham, MA location.

Qualifications

The successful candidate has: 

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4-6+ years of product development experience 
  • Strong knowledge of product development that include software, electrical, and mechanical design 
  • Experience in new product development programs (bringing new products and new technologies successfully to market) 
  • Fluency with MCAD tools and RP techniques 
  • Experience in DFM, DFA, and design for cost and reliability 
  • Skilled in prototyping and rapid prototyping techniques 
  • Proficient in product plastic part design, sheet metal and stamping design, and high precision design of electro-mechanical systems 
  • Experience in motion system design and analysis, motion control, and robotics 
  • Previous experience in engineering services environment strongly desired  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 desired 
  • Medical device development experience a plus 
  • No relocation offered
