Company Description
Working at Boskalis is about creating new horizons and sustainable solutions. In a world where population growth, an increase of global trade, demand for (new) energy and climate change are driving forces, we challenge you to make your mark in finding innovative and relevant solutions for complex infrastructural and marine projects.
Dredging is one of our traditional core activities. Boskalis is famous for projects like the expansion of the Suez Canal and the extension of the Maasvlakte at the Port of Rotterdam. Creation of new nature areas like the Markerwadden is something we contribute to. Combining our state-of-the-art fleet, equipment and incredible manpower, we’re able to achieve projects that no one believed were even possible.
Job Description
Reliable today. Future-ready for tomorrow.
Within Fleet Management Dredging, colleagues onboard and ashore work as one team, combining technical expertise, craftsmanship and ownership to keep our vessels safe, reliable, cost-efficient and ready for the future.
As Technical Superintendent Maintenance, you play a key role in the preparation and execution of docking projects across our distinctive dredging fleet. You bring together vessel crews, technical specialists and other stakeholders, ensuring that docking activities are executed safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards. With your proactive mindset and technical expertise, you contribute to vessel availability, continuous improvement and the long-term performance of our fleet. Join Team Fleet and make your mark on the vessels that enable Boskalis to deliver successful projects worldwide.
As Technical Superintendent Maintenance within Fleet Management Dredging, Docking Support, you will be part of, and/or responsible of a (un)planned vessel maintenance and repair within the Dredging fleet. You ensure the repair scope is prepared and repaired safely, efficiently and in compliance with applicable regulations. You play a key role in the preparation and execution of docking, maintenance and repair projects.
Your responsibilities include:
- Prepare and coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance, repairs, modifications, and potential dry-docking projects across the fleet.
- Support Fleet Teams by conducting regular vessel inspections to verify compliance with statutory, class, and company requirements and to develop repair scopes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for vessel teams during repair, maintenance, and modification projects, or contribute as part of a larger project team.
- Coordinate repair and docking activities between vessel teams, shipyards, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution.
- Develop tender-ready work packages and work orders, ensuring technical requirements, scope definitions, and material requirements are accurately assessed and documented.
- Define, document, and communicate clear scopes of work for shipyards and contractors to facilitate accurate planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Promote and embed safety throughout all activities by applying Risk Assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Work Methods, Toolbox Talks, Yes-Scan principles, and visible safety leadership.
- Liaise with shipyards regarding planning, schedules, quotations, contract execution, and project progress.
- Monitor project performance with respect to safety, quality, cost, schedule, and technical objectives during repair and maintenance periods.
- Prepare and deliver reports on project progress, repair activities, budgets, and technical performance to Fleet Teams and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to vessels and Fleet Teams.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of docking, repair, and maintenance processes, driving standardization and operational excellence across the fleet.
- Collaborate with specialist disciplines such as Planning, Cost Estimating, SHE-Q, Procurement, and other support functions to optimize project preparation, execution, quality, and reporting.
- Maintain and actively promote Boskalis' SHEQ standards, NINA principles, and corporate values throughout all activities.
