Boskalis Westminster Ltd is famous for delivering engineering marvels, including our current work on the Southsea Coastal Defence Scheme. We are looking for a driven SHE-Q Engineer to help us continue this legacy in our small close-nit team. 

Job Description

Make your mark as a SHE-Q Engineer at Boskalis! 

In this role, you will be more than a compliance officer; you will be an ambassador for our core values. You will bridge the gap between tender teams, project sites, and stakeholders, ensuring that our safety culture, NINA – No Injuries, No Accidents, and quality frameworks, WoW – Way of Working, are embedded in every project we embark on. 

Main Tasks:

  • Champion Safety & Quality: Act as the primary SHE-Q representaitve for clients and stakeholders, translating abstract policies into practical business processes.
  • Drive Operational Support: Facilitate SHE-Q activities for tenders and project start-ups, providing the necessary knowledge, documentation, and deliverables to win and execute work safely.
  • Lead Investigations: Manage incident investigations and follow-ups. You will analyse trends and share outcomes to ensure we learn and prevent recurrence.
  • Optimise Processes: Analyse and assess current workflows to continuously improve our SHE-Q management systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards and the Boskalis Westminster Ltd system.
  • Monitor & Audit: Initiate and organize internal, client, and sub-contractor audits to ensure rigid process control and verification.
  • Data Reporting: Maintain the legal register and compile SHE-Q statistics for quarterly reporting and management reviews.
  • Culture & Training: Actively coach staff and organise training sessions to increase SHE-Q awareness and keep colleagues engaged in improvement processes. 

Required Knowledge & Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a UK SHW-Q Function
  • Industry Background: Previous experience in a Construction or Maritime environment is highly preferred. 
  • Operational Insight: Basic knowledge of industry equipment and operational activities. 
  • Mindset: A strong understanding of continuous improvement processes. 
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK as required. 

Desirable Knowledge & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 5, Diploma or BSc in engineering related subject
  • NEBOSH Construction/General
  • CQI & IRCA Auditor / Lead Auditor ISO 9001/14001/45001

Extra information:

Your team: Reporting to the SHE-Q Manager, you will work as a SHE-Q Engineer, alongside the SHE-Q Officer. 

Where you will work: You will be working at the Westminster House in Fareham, Hampshire. Whilst the role is office based in Fareham, we offer up to 2 days a week hybrid working. Please note there will be a requirement to travel to other project sites around the UK, when the need arises. 

Full/part-time job: The position of SHE-Q Engineer is a full-time job - 37.5 hours a week.
