How you can make your mark Make your mark as an Offshore Geophysicist with Gardline!
We have an exciting opportunity as an Offshore Geophysicist to undertake quality control and interpretation of shallow geophysical data acquired onboard our fleet of multi-role survey vessels. Including the preparation of associated reports and deliverables. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of completing circa 120 days offshore per calendar year, working the remainder of the year at the office in Great Yarmouth. A full right to work in the UK without restrictions is therefore required.
Project types range from traditional site survey work to large scale offshore renewable developments. These can include specific surveys aimed at potential UXO threats, or cable route aspects of large developments, and utilise a wide range of shallow geophysical equipment. Previous experience in a similar environment would be advantageous
Job Description
Your responsibilities as Geophysicist:
- Quality control and provisional interpretation of the shallow geophysical data
- Ensure suitability of acquisition methods used on offshore projects
- Liaison with sub-contractors, clients and other crew members to ensure the aims of the project are met
- Integrate data from a variety of sources including environmental, geotechnical, shallow geophysical and multichannel seismic
- Compile technical geohazard interpretation reports as well as Client deliverables
Qualifications
You can make your mark as an Offshore Geophysicist if you have:
- Some field / offshore experience of geosciences related data acquisition, either academic or commercial (would be an advantage)
- A demonstrable understanding of marine geophysics and have a related geoscience degree
- Commercial awareness, together with excellent communications skills
- General understanding of the marine survey industry would be advantageous
- Team spirit and collaborative work ethic
- Enthusiasm, ingenuity and personal drive
- Excellent communication skills
- A full right to work in the UK without restrictions

- A full drivers license would be advantageous.
- Where you will work: Offshore onboard our multi-role survey vessels, anywhere in the world where Gardline vessels operate and Prospect House, Gapton Hall Industrial Estate, Great Yarmouth.
- Full time job: The position of geophysicist is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week while working in the office. As well as an expectation of completing approximately 120 days offshore. Whilst offshore the role is 12 hour shift rotations.
