Make your mark as offshore geophysical engineer in charge at Gardline!
The geophysical engineer in charge is responsible for leading the safe operation and acquisition of geophysical survey equipment and data. As in charge, you will provide a proactive and comprehensive service to effectively support the needs of the geophysical engineering department, both onboard company vessels and at Company HQ.
This is a seagoing role, with an expectation of completing around 180-200 days offshore per year. Previous experience operating at this level and in a similar environment would be advantageous.
The start date for this role is January 2025. A comprehensive induction training programme will take place in our Great Yarmouth offices based in the United Kingdom.
Job Description
Your responsibilities include:
- To lead and co-ordinate the engineering team
- To ensure that the engineering work is performed at the highest standards in accordance with the company’s Quality Assurance and HSE procedures
- To ensure that all Geophysical Engineering equipment is tested, calibrated, sufficient spares stocked, manuals are available
- To ensure that the Geophysical data is acquired in compliance with good survey practice and logs are completed in accordance with company policy
- Under the direction of the Crewing Manager or Party Chief develop and operate appropriate engineering and administrative processes in order to effectively support the work of the Geophysical Department
- To be proficient in the use, maintenance, deployment and mobilisation of all Gardline Geophysical equipment
- Monitor and quality control data records in an accurate and timely manner
- Attend all toolbox meetings unless otherwise directed
Your qualities
You can make your mark as an geophysical engineer in charge if you have:
- Experience in relevant engineering disciplines would be considered. e.g. Electronic, Hydraulic, Mechanical, Electrical, Data communications, IT infrastructure
- Broad knowledge of Geophysical and Seismic operations
- Proven track record to be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Develop constructive and open relationships with a wide range of people
- Team spirit and a ‘can-do’ attitude
- Ability to problem solve using initiative and creativity
- Dedicated work ethic
- Fluent in spoken and written English, including technical
- High level IT skills e.g. Microsoft Office
- Ability to pass ENG-1 and STCW-95 (or recognised equivalent)
- Ability to coach and mentor others
Qualifications
- Qualifications in an engineering, electronics or mechanical field (HM Forces qualifications also recognised).
- Level 3 or higher qualifications in technical subjects (e.g. Maths, Electronics, Physics)
