Job Description

Make your mark as an Apprentice Marine Workshop Engineer at Gardline! 

We are looking for an Apprentice Marine Workshop Engineer to join our skilled mechanical engineering team who provide hands on engineering and technical support services for our fleet of multi-role survey vessels.

Running world-leading multi-disciplinary marine survey operations takes a diverse, dynamic and talented team, who are knowledgeable, skilled and flexible. The ideal candidate will share these values and traits and be keen to become part of the team and is willing to learn and develop the required skills through a structured apprenticeship training program.

This role is workshop based in Great Yarmouth but will also require attendance at mobilisations or travel to company vessels both in the UK and abroad, sometimes at short notice.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing a skilled mechanical engineering and technical service for the marine workshop.
  • Provide and maintain a high standard and quality of work in the marine workshop & on vessels
  • Repair and maintain the company’s fleet of survey vessels, at any location worldwide & ensure timely completion.
  • Carry out class machinery surveys as instructed by superintendents.
  • Ensure that all Health, Safety & Environmental company policies are adhered to & promote safe working practices.

Your qualities

  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
  • Personal drive and a focus on health and safety
  • Willing to undertake level 3 Engineering Fitter Qualification
  • Level 2 Math’s and English
  • Team spirit together with a proactive, and diligent work ethic

  • Fulltime job: The position of Apprentice Marine Workshop Engineer is a fulltime role, 37.5 hours per week with regular attendance to college whilst undertaking Level 3 qualification
