Job Description

Make your mark as a Geophysicist in a Year in Industry at Gardline! 

We are looking for students for a Year in Industry placement to undertake quality control, processing, and interpretation of shallow geophysical data, including preparation of associated reports and deliverables. This is a hybrid role, working both offshore and within the office.
Project types range from traditional site survey work to large scale offshore renewable developments.  These can include specific surveys aimed at potential UXO threats, or cable route aspects of large developments, and utilise a wide range of shallow geophysical equipment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Quality control and provisional interpretation of the shallow geophysical data
  • Undertake processing and interpretation of shallow geophysical data
  • Liaison with sub-contractors, clients and other crew members to ensure the aims of the project are met
  • Integrate data from a variety of sources including environmental, geotechnical, shallow geophysical and multichannel seismic
  • Compile technical geohazard interpretation reports as well as Client deliverables

 

Your qualities
You can make your mark as a Geophysicist if you have:

  • Enrolled on a Earth Science degree with a Year in Industry placement option
  • Enthusiasm, ingenuity and personal drive
  • General understanding of the marine survey industry
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Team spirit and collaborative work ethic

  • A full drivers’ license would be advantageous.
  • Where you will work: Prospect House, Gapton Hall Industrial Estate, Great Yarmouth
  • Full time job: The position of Geophysicist is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, as well as an expectation of completing approximately 120 days offshore.
