Job Description

Generative AI models have proven to be capable of generating high quality images, videos, text and many other data modalities. At Bosch, we want to push the envelope and create models that can generate data from less widespread modalities such as radar, ultrasound and other.

  • As an expert for generative models, you will play a crucial role in the conception, development, and implementation of innovative algorithms and pipelines for creating highly realistic sensor data that can be used for sensor-level simulation.
  • Your focus will be on researching and applying cutting-edge generative models, especially diffusion models and related techniques.
  • You will actively research and develop novel algorithms and architectures for sensor data generation, particularly using diffusion models and other generative models.
  • Your responsibility will be to conceive and implement proof‑of‑concepts and prototypes to validate new approaches and technologies, in close collaboration with Bosch business units that provide and use radar, ultrasound, and other sensor data.
  • Furthermore, you will train, fine‑tune, and optimize complex generative models for various applications based on Bosch‑internal data.
  • A key responsibility of the role is for you to develop and apply suitable metrics and benchmarks for the objective evaluation of generated content.
  • You will actively participate in internal and external technical discussions and present research findings.
  • In this role, you will monitor and evaluate new research trends and technologies in the field of generative AI.
  • As part of our team, you will closely collaborate with domain experts, product developers, and engineers to translate research findings into practical applications.
  • You will write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code to support research initiatives and facilitate technology transfer into practical applications, as well as contribute to developing and sharing best practices within the team.
  • The position requires you to work with Bosch’s proprietary data to fine‑tune and adapt generic models, understand data requirements through discussions with development partners, and design robust data‑ingestion pipelines for model training and inference.
  • Last but not least, you will leverage your entrepreneurial mindset to evaluate, develop, and pitch new ideas that can drive innovation within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Education: excellent MSc degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Signal Processing, or a comparable technical/scientific field
  • Experience and Knowledge:
    • proven research achievements in generative AI, supported by publications at leading ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR) or in academic journals
    • demonstrated expertise in the theory and application of generative models, particularly diffusion models, as well as strong knowledge of GANs, VAEs, and autoregressive models
    • broad foundational knowledge in AI and machine learning, familiarity with key modern tools in generative AI
    • proven experience with scalable machine learning architectures and distributed training (including multi-GPU/multi-node setups)
    • several years of experience working with data from industrial domains (e.g., sensors, physical systems, IoT devices, simulations)
    • excellent Python programming skills and extensive hands-on experience with major machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
    • good understanding of modern software engineering standards and tools
    • familiarity with radar or ultrasound data processing is an advantage
  • Personality and Working Practice: you bring a strong can‑do attitude and a clear drive to translate AI research prototypes into real-world applications for automated driving; you demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, including an understanding of business models related to AI and automated driving; you are passionate about working in international, cross‑functional teams and thrive in collaborative environments; a strong team spirit and the ability to contribute effectively to shared goals characterize your working style
  • Enthusiasm: you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of generative AI and making a tangible difference in the development of future technologies through your work
